The Zoo.

Campbell's class took a field trip to the Woodland Park Zoo, and Campbell asked me to come with. We rode the bus down there and it was the perfect day for going to the zoo. Clear blue skies and about 70 degrees. Since so many parents volunteered, everyone got their own child and got to go around the zoo on their own. We started off with the penguins and the day/night exhibits that Campbell really wanted to visit. Once she realized there were snakes..very large snakes, she was pretty much over that. We continued on and visited the Flamingo's which were very interesting. I never realized that they sleep standing up, and on one leg!

We continued along the path and found a bunch of picnic tables where some of Campbell's friends and their parents were eating their lunch, so we stopped to join them. Afterwards the girls all wanted to get ice cream, and then we continued on to the elephants and the gorillas. My favorite animal to see was the Giraffe's. I just think they are so pretty. Campbell's favorite was the new baby gorilla. We watched him climb all over the trees and almost fall a time or two :) We had so much fun at the zoo!

Memorial Weekend.

For the first time in years, I stayed home for Memorial Weekend. I had several different things I could have done, but staying home sounded like the best one to me. It was so nice to not have any plans and just be able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. I caught up on some more Grey's Anatomy, watched the races, tried a few. new. recipes. from one of my favorite blogs..you must try the corn casserole!

I also went to the Farmer's Market in Monroe on Sunday afternoon, sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather, and even made a new bulletin board out of an old picture frame. Nothing special or exciting, but so relaxing.

1st school concert.

{Campbell front & center}

{The Peanut herself}

{Lizzie, Ava and Cami..Cooper was having no part of a picture}

Last Thursday, Campbell and her kindergarten class, had their 1st school concert! They joined a few of the 1st grade classes to sing and it was the cutest thing. Campbell was so excited for her concert and counted down the days until Thursday making sure that we all knew what time to be there. Her class was to dress up as "peanuts" which consisted of her wearing dark clothes, and the teachers fitting them with garbage bags filled with newspaper :) They sang several songs and then the 1st graders did a little skit. Afterwards I treated the kids to some DQ. I think everyone at Campbell's school had the same idea, and Ava was not liking the long wait. We had a fun night and I am so proud of Campbell :)

Summer girl.

The weather was really nice last weekend, even hit 80 both days I think. It wasn't overly hot though, just perfect. Sunday I took Campbell up to the outlet mall in Marysville. We were on a mission to get some new jeans for her since they all seem to be too short. But apparently, stores think that kids don't wear jeans in the summer. We got 1 pair of jeans, and then a few extra things, including this swimsuit and matching sandals. It is so cute, and Campbell picked it out to wear for her birthday party in a few weeks. Of course she had to put it on right when she got home and test it out running through the sprinklers. I also got her that little cover up and she has worn it everyday since. She wears it to school, to bed, around the house..everywhere :)

{typical Campbell fashion, crazy girl :)}

Obsessed.

Thanks to the Harding's, I am now completely obsessed with Grey's Anatomy. Several of my friends have been fans of the show and I never quite understood why. It seems that I'm always at Shae's on Thursdays and they watch the show so I started to watch too and got hooked. They have all of the complete seasons on DVD so they gave them to me and I have been trying to catch up. I am halfway through season 2 and just can't get enough of it. Last night was the season finale and I cried like a baby. I act as if these people are my friends and this is real life :)I love the love stories, I love the friendships, I love the drama, I love everything about it. I guess that's how I know that it's a great show, when the writers can do such a good job of making it feel real. I can't wait until the next season now, but until then, I will just be catching up.

One.

It's hard to believe that a year has already passed! It seems like it takes forever waiting for the little ones to be born, and as soon as they are, time flies. I have had so much fun being a part of Cadence's life this past year. From the snugly little baby to the walking little sweetheart she has been such a joy to me. I can't wait to watch her grow up. She puts the twinkle in her parent's eye and they do the same for her. It's a pretty special thing to watch. Happy Birthday Miss Cadence Rae :)

Cadence's 1st Birthday Party!

Sunday was Cadence's 1st Birthday party and Shae did a great job with everything. Campbell and I arrived a little early to help her but she had everything done with the help of her wonderful Mom and Shane of course. She made the cutest Elmo cake for Cadence and Elmo cupcakes for the guests. Shane did his famous BBQ'ing for everyone and all the kids played on the swing set. The weather was questionable that morning, but turned out just perfect for everyone to be outside. Cadence wasn't too sure what to think when everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to her, but she dug right in to her Elmo cake and pretty soon she had frosting everywhere! It was sweet to watch as she fed some of her cake to both Mommy and Daddy, a big change from them feeding her :) She got tons of presents but was most interested with the cards and envelopes of course! It's hard to believe a year has gone by and we are already celebrating her 1st birthday.

"That's racing."

I've never liked that phrase. Racing is so unpredictable and often doesn't go the way one would like it to go. It's a sport I love so much, but on the other hand, can hate so much. I know how much hard work, dedication, money..everything, that it takes to make it to a race and to be out of contention on lap 1 just plain sucks. To see the look of disappointment on a face that usually has a smile is heartbreaking.

The past 2 seasons have been anything but fun for Jay and I think if he didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any at all. After his night was ended early, Karen got a text from her mother in law that said "bad luck and bad tires, but one hell of a driver." And I couldn't agree more.

But here is why I love Jay, I just received a text that says "Just to give you a heads up, the beast will be making an appearance this weekend at Spokane Raceway Park." Instead of giving up, he went home yesterday and went hard to work to fix the car and do it all over again. No matter how many times he gets knocked down, he keeps getting back up and that is something to be appreciated.
