A little scare

I have been trying to get up to see Cadence for the last few weeks but they have been sick, or have went to see Shae's family and I kept missing them. I was supposed to go up on Monday but Shae said that both she and Cadence were both sick so I decided to wait. Tuesday Shae texted me and said they were at the ER with Cadence because she had a high fever, was getting sick and having trouble breathing and their Dr. sent them. I was pretty worried about that little girl but Shae did a good job of keeping me informed on her status. They did a bunch of things to the poor little girl and they think it was a viral infection and possibly a bad sinus infection. Shae said that she was so lethargic and just laid there which is not like Cadence at all.

I just had to go up there last night and see for myself that she was doing better and she definitely was. You can tell she is still not her normal self but she looks a lot better. I can't believe how big she is getting! I say that every time, but she changes so much. Last time I thought her hair was getting darker and now it's getting really light. She is just a little sweetheart and I love holding her :)

Trying to get her to smile but I kept missing it.

She wanted some taco salad too :)

She was making some pretty funny faces :)

Chatting with each other.

Cadence's 1st Birthday Party!

Sunday was Cadence's 1st Birthday party and Shae did a great job with everything. Campbell and I arrived a little early to help her but she had everything done with the help of her wonderful Mom and Shane of course. She made the cutest Elmo cake for Cadence and Elmo cupcakes for the guests. Shane did his famous BBQ'ing for everyone and all the kids played on the swing set. The weather was questionable that morning, but turned out just perfect for everyone to be outside. Cadence wasn't too sure what to think when everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to her, but she dug right in to her Elmo cake and pretty soon she had frosting everywhere! It was sweet to watch as she fed some of her cake to both Mommy and Daddy, a big change from them feeding her :) She got tons of presents but was most interested with the cards and envelopes of course! It's hard to believe a year has gone by and we are already celebrating her 1st birthday.

Sweet Baby ♥

It had been a few weeks since I had seen Cadence, so I decided to head up there yesterday afternoon and I'm glad I did. Even in just a few weeks, she has changed so much. Her hair has gotten much lighter and she is just growing like a weed :)

Shae and I went to the craft store for awhile and then took her to dinner at The Olive Garden. The last time we took her there, she was only a couple weeks old and she slept the whole time. This time, she was wide awake and she loved all the people and the lights and the noise. She was great the whole time and everyone that walked by had to stop and look at her.

Chewing on everything and wearing her new Gracelet :)

Cadence at dinner sitting on mommy's lap and looking like a big girl!

All snuggly in her jammies.

Shae has started her on food and yesterday morning she gave her green beans. She said that Cadence didn't like them and made the funniest faces when she fed them to her. She wanted to try them again just to see if she would like them at night rather than first thing in the morning. Shae was busy for a few minutes, so she had me feed her. It was great at first. She was eating it right up and kicking in an excited way and she didn't seem to be having a problem. That is until a few minutes later, when she threw it all up and started choking. I panicked and I'm pretty sure my heart stopped for a few seconds, because she was literally choking and her face was bright red. I picked her up and took her bib off and patted her back and I was calmly saying "She's choking" so Shae came running out and started patting her back. She was okay, but man was that a scary moment. Shae said she didn't know anything was wrong because I said it so calmly. She must have not swallowed any of it because it all came back out! I made a deal with Cadence that she didn't have to eat green beans anymore if she promises not to choke anymore :)

She is such a sweet, sweet baby. I love her coo's and her smiles and her chatters and I'm so glad I get to spend time with her :)

We ended our night by watching the movie "Baby Mama". All I can say is, hilarious! I think I will definitely be buying that one.

A funny story..

It started about a week ago with Shae asking me what I wanted for my birthday. I told her to give me pictures of Cadence but she said that was not an option. She wanted me to tell her 3 things I wanted for my birthday because she had gotten me something and she wanted to see if it was on my top 3. I told her that I really couldn't think of anything at the time. So she said fine, she was having my present shipped to my house and it would arrive on Friday.

On Wednesday Karen called and told me that she was sending my birthday present and it would arrive on Friday, but I would be in Montana so I would have to wait until Monday to open it.

You might be able to tell where this is going..

So on Monday night, Shane, Shae and Miss Cadence came down because they wanted to watch me open my present, so right then I figured that this must be a big thing. I was excited to have them come down and apparently Melinda and Shae had been working together on this so Melinda had hid the present.

We visited for awhile and then I opened up Shane & Shae's present and this is what it was:

Can you believe it? A kitchen aid mixer! I have wanted one of these for a long time! I love to cook and this would make cooking so much easier in many ways for me. I almost bought one a couple months back at a Macy's one day sale, but I decided not to. I was so excited to get one! I can not believe they got me a kitchen aid, such a cool gift because it is something I really wanted.

After a few minutes, Melinda comes out of her office and she says she has something else for me, so I look up and Melinda is holding this:

Another Kitchen aid?? I said, who is that from? And Melinda said that on Friday when she opened her door, there were 2 kitchen aids that had been delivered..one from Shae and one from Karen! How funny! Of all the things in the world, and they both got me the same thing. I thought I was pretty darn cool to receive such a nice gift from two of my best friends. They both thought it was pretty funny too. First I didn't have one and now I have two :)

Shae said that she remembered me talking about wanting one and Karen told me that when I was telling her about making the cupcakes for Lynsie's baby shower back in May, that she knew she was going to get me a Kitchen aid for my birthday.

I guess this means that I have some treats to be making :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH, Shane, Shae & Cadence, and Karen, Rick, Kaitlyn & Trace! You all made my birthday very special and I am so lucky to call y'all friends!

Also, thank you to Melinda for being a part of all of this :)

Cadence

Yesterday after work, I headed up to Shane & Shae's to see Miss Cadence. I can't believe she will be 4 months old on Sunday! She is getting so big, so fast. Every time I see her, she looks like a new child. She sits in her highchair like a big kid. She can roll over and shes a little chatter box :) Shane was busy working on race cars so us girls hung out and made dinner and played.

Shae has started feeding Cadence cereal and in the next few weeks she will start with vegetables and then fruits. She is teething like crazy but the first one hasn't arrived yet. She is such a happy baby and is smiling so much. I swear we even heard her say "mom" a time or two :)

I love babies at this age and I wish they stayed this little forever :)

Cupcakes.

Yesterday afternoon I headed up to Canada to see Miss Cadence. It had been a few weeks so I was really missing her and she is in the beginning stages of walking so I had to see that.

Shae, Cadence and I went to the new Super Walmart not far from their house and on the way we stopped at a new shopping center that has recently opened. They have several cute shops there including The Children's Place where we stopped to get a few things :) Across the street from that was a darling little Cupcake shop. We had to stop there and it was so cute inside. We got some mini cupcakes and had fun watching Cadence try them. She LOVED them, and was on a sugar rush the rest of the night. She talked our ears off, but it was so cute.

Oh Canada!

Friday morning I headed up to Shane & Shae's and from there we went to Vernon, BC. It was about a 4 hour drive, but there were some delays so it took us about 7 hours! It was a long day and night of driving but the baby was so good. She mostly just slept and only got fussy towards the end, but after that long in a car, I don't blame her!

We got to the hotel and let her relax on the bed and she was so content. We ordered some pizza, watched some TV and then went to sleep. The race was Saturday so Shane left to the track and then we got ready. He called later on and said that he had wrecked his car in practice and was too bad to race. We were bummed and so was he. His brand new car is wrecked from the driver seat back! All that hard work and now he has to do it all over again. A guy had leaked some anti freeze on the track and Shane hit that going into turn 1. He spun and backed it into the wall. He was a little sore, but okay.

We took our time getting to the track and then hung out at Shane's parents motor home. It was parked right off of turns 1 & 2 and had the perfect view for the race. The track was really nice too. Shane's dad Pete ended up winning so we took Cadence to Victory Lane and she got her picture with Grandpa. He was pretty proud of his trophy and of Cadence, it was so sweet :)

pretty girl ♥
(I love how she sleeps with her hands folded ♥)

Sunday we got up around 10 and got ready to head home. It was a beautiful day with lots of pretty scenery. I had so much fun hanging out with them all weekend, especially Miss Cadence. She is just so sweet and I can't wait to see her again real soon!

Victory!

Usually, going racing means travelling for me, but not this weekend! There was a big race held at Evergreen Speedway, about 5 minutes from my house and it was so nice. There were 4 classes racing Saturday night and it started with a practice on Friday night. I went and watched for a few hours and saw some fast cars!

Saturday was a long day starting with the gates opening at 7:00 am for the West Series. I was there around 8 to drop off some food for Jeff and the team and then I came back around 9:30 when the rest of the teams were allowed in. The day seemed to go pretty fast with practice, and qualifying taking up the majority of the day. It was so humid out, definitely wasn't used to that.

The first race started around 6 which had put everything behind schedule. I went up to the grandstands to see Shae & Miss Cadence. Shane raced in the 2nd main event so Shae had been in the stands for a bit.

Shelby came and found us in the stands before the race and she was excited to see Cadence since she hears so much about her :) She handed me a card that she wanted me to open right then, so I did and it was asking me to be a bridesmaid in her and Jeff's wedding, so that was pretty exciting! I just said, "oh my gosh" and she said WELL, is that a yes??? Of course, I said. Shelby and I have become great friends and I would be honored to stand by her side.

Jeff's race was the last of the night and it started way later than it was supposed to. Jeff had qualified 3rd for the race which was awesome. He took the lead fairly early in the race and I was so excited, but I knew there were a lot of laps left and as we all know in racing, anything can happen and we have seen it! I started to get really excited with 30 laps to go, I kept saying in my head "he's going to win this" and what do you know, HE DID!! Finally, a win in the West Series. So, so much deserved. Jeff and his team work so hard, Jeff especially, to prepare cars competitive enough to race in this series and their hard work finally showed and paid off. Jeff has definitely had more than his share of bad luck and I was so happy to see that turn around. It was really exciting to be there for it all, there truly is nothing like that first victory.

6 months

Miss Cadence turned 6 months old on Friday so I went up to see her. Shae's mom and her 2 nieces were up and we had fun playing with the baby and playing salon. We went to Dairy Queen for her monthly birthday there. It started on her first month birthday when I was there and we went to DQ. It has become a monthly tradition :) Too bad Cadence sleeps most of the time but this time she woke up and wanted some ice cream!

We tried everything to get her to crawl to us by putting a bunch of things in front of her that she would just love to play with. She moved a little bit, but not a full crawl. I bet it will be soon though. She is such a smart baby and so sweet too :)

Thank heaven for little girls!

And Miss Cadence is definitely a piece of Heaven!

On Monday after work, Amy and I headed up to Shae and Shane's, right across the Canadian border. We couldn't wait to see Cadence! She was born on May 7th at 7:50 pm and she weighed 8lbs 2 ounces and she was 21 inches long. She is absolutely gorgeous and such a good baby. She sleeps a lot and she is so funny to watch as she is sleeping. She makes the funniest faces and she yawns a lot and stretches out her body which is just so cute! I loved holding her and just looking at her. Amy and I left at about 9:30 but I decided that I couldn't wait until the weekend to see her again, so I drove up yesterday after work too. It's about an hour and a half drive and well worth it.

When I got there yesterday, Shae's mom Pam gave her right to me and I just held her and watched her sleep. The only time she fusses at all is when she is getting her diaper changed, but after that's done, she is so quiet. Shae laid her in her crib for the first time, just for a few minutes, and we all stood there and took pictures and stared at her. There is a musical aquarium on the side of her crib that kept her attention for quite awhile and then Shane was singing a song to her which was so sweet. She looked so tiny in the crib!

That little sweetie is one loved little girl! I can't wait until Friday when Becca and I go up there to see them again. She is just precious!

The Montana 200!

The Montana 200 is one of my favorite weekends all year and I think it has a lot to do with the drive there and the surrounding areas. It is so beautiful and it is the perfect road trip, only about 8 hours with easy driving. My friend Ashley flew in from Twin Falls Idaho since it was both of our Birthdays last weekend and we like to celebrate them together. She came in Wednesday afternoon and we drove up to Canada to see Baby Cadence. We had Olive Garden with Shane & Shae and had fun with Cadence.

Thursday morning we got up and drove all day, stopping quite a few times to check things out. I love the drive once you turn off of I-90. The road goes along a river and it is so beautiful.

We got in Thursday evening and checked in our hotel, went to dinner and then came back and went to bed.

Friday morning we woke up and Jay's parents, Mike & Susi, took us to Breakfast for my birthday at this cute little restaurant in Lakeside. After breakfast we went to Susi's brothers house up on a ridge and it had the most stunning view. We drove, what seemed like forever, up this windy hill and when we got to the top this is what we saw.

It was so pretty and peaceful up there. We hung out there for awhile and played pool. Mike took the quad out for the 1st time and he ended up loving it. Pretty soon we spotted him on the next ridge over! I think there might be a new purchase for him :)
Ashley and I headed into town and picked up some things for a BBQ later that night and then we all headed to the track. Friday night was qualifying and heat races and then a last chance race. Jay flew in from Seattle since he couldn't take any time off so he didn't get in until 9:30. When he got there he went up to the announcer and had him say this "Happy Birthday Becky, the only Kyle Busch fan here, We love you, the Saul's"..It was hilarious. I heard my name, and then I heard Kyle and I was like oh no :) It was pretty funny though.

After the races, we went back up to Steve's and had a bonfire and played pool and the boys played darts. The Saul's gave me a huge picture frame that Susi had made filled with pictures from our trip to North Carolina and I love it!

Saturday we just relaxed and Ashley and I had lunch before heading up to Steve's again. We just sat up there for a few hours and relaxed before heading to the track. This is one of the biggest late model races in the Northwest and pays $12,000 to win so there were some really good cars there. It was a great race for the most party and there was a lot of hard racing. Gary Lewis ended up winning it, as he has most of the year! The race didn't get over until about 1:30 so needless to say, we were pretty tired. We went to the pits, saw some of our friends and then went back to the hotel.

Sunday we had lunch and then left around noon to head home. We stopped in Spokane at The Olive Garden since it was Ashley's birthday and that's where she wanted to go. We didn't get home until late Sunday night but we had so much fun in the car. I described it as a sunroof open, windows down, wind blowin, music blarin, girls laughin & singin kind of trip and that's what it was. We had a great time!

One.

It's hard to believe that a year has already passed! It seems like it takes forever waiting for the little ones to be born, and as soon as they are, time flies. I have had so much fun being a part of Cadence's life this past year. From the snugly little baby to the walking little sweetheart she has been such a joy to me. I can't wait to watch her grow up. She puts the twinkle in her parent's eye and they do the same for her. It's a pretty special thing to watch. Happy Birthday Miss Cadence Rae :)
